If you're still settling into your new Beavercreek home, you probably need some quick meals for the family. Solo? You may want a meal that doesn't require much effort after a long day of putting things in their place. That's where the great American hamburger comes in.
Hamburgers, which are being celebrated this month through National Hamburger Month, have a venerable lineage. They started as a way for butchers to use up junk meat — minced, with onions and bread crumbs added — and made the voyage across the Atlantic from Hamburg, Germany, where they joined up with a bread roll to evolve into the often fancy and trimmed-to-the-max hamburger we encounter in restaurants these days.
