We've all learned the importance of having access to the outdoors. Beavercreek has numerous trails for you to enjoy this coming spring.

If you're looking at Beavercreek homes for sale, be sure to look beyond the property boundaries and check out the fabulous nearby natural world. These days, we've all learned the desirability of having access to outdoor venues where we can walk, run, bike, or take Rover for an outing. It's the wise homeowner who chooses to live in an area rich with outdoor resources.

Beavercreek has a number of tree-filled parks for residents to enjoy. Residents will not only have miles of trails where they can improve health and fitness, but will also have plentiful green space for picnics and play. Our REALTORS® recommend you check out these trails.

  1. Beavercreek Wetlands Reserve Creekside Bike Trail, 1153 North Fairfield Road, Beavercreek 45432
The Beavercreek Wetlands Association encompasses a complex of trails, a creek, meadows, wetlands, and more. Enjoy more than 3.5 miles of gravel trails, plus 1.5 miles of bikeway, flat and hard-surfaced, as you ride the Creekside Bike Trail. Many species of wildlife can be found here, including birds and small mammals. In spring, see a wide variety of wildflowers, plus species of trees that are typical of our region, such as sycamore, ash, honey locust, and box elder.

  2. Beavercreek Wetlands Nature Reserve, 2095 Dayton Xenia Rd., Dayton 45434
The 76-acre Beavercreek Wetlands Nature Reserve is north of Phillips Park and Rotary Park. The trail through the floodplain woodlands, marsh, wet prairies, scrub shrub wetlands and woodland pools is only a 1.76-mile loop, but it packs in a rich experience of the wetlands habitat and bird species. No facilities, but do come with binoculars and a camera to observe the avian visitors.

  3. Russ Nature Center, 2380 Kemp Creek Road, Beavercreek 45431
Russ Nature Center offers four miles of trails, winding through woods and meadows. Need a place to unwind? It's a perfect setting for taking a break from all your stresses, or just taking a quiet walk with a friend or a loved one. The kids can expend energy in the Lovely Nature Playscape, a wooded playground featuring natural climbing structures. Learn about indigenous trees as you walk along the tree trail. Your family can also learn about beekeeping by visiting an apiary located in the park.

  4. Sweet Arrow Reserve, 789 Little Sugarcreek Road, Dayton, 45440
    Sweet Arrow Reserve
consists of nearly 263 acres of prairies, meadows, and woodlands. Visitors can hike seven different trail loops, ranging from a half mile to 1.5 miles in length. Highlights of the hike include two famous historic trees, a white ash and a hollowed-out sycamore.

  5. Narrows Reserve, 2575 Indian Ripple Rd., Xenia 45385
Enjoy six miles of trails as they wind along the Little Miami River when you visit the Narrows Reserve  in Greene County. Get to know woods and meadows as you walk along. Launch a canoe or kayak in the river. Visit the Raptor Aviary and get to know some of the indigenous raptors in our area. The nature center is currently closed but keep checking back for when it reopens. Also, learn how to care for bees and harvest honey from an apiary managed by the Greene County Beekeepers Association.

Want to take some time to get creative? Here are some great craft ideas to do in your home.

March is National Craft Month, so what better time than this to take the plunge and go all artsy and crafty? It might be dabbling with paper, scissors, and glue just for fun, or you may have a genuine interest in developing your skills to the point where your crafts are good enough to sell. Maybe you'd just like to learn enough to guide your kids and their adventures into crafting.

Not really interested in dedicating the time or energy, not to mention the workspace, that crafting requires? Then at the least, take yourself to some of your local craft malls or farmer's markets and bring home some locally handmade goods to decorate your house before it's listed among Beavercreek homes for sale. Whatever you do, make the most of March in your home as National Craft Month.

Celebrate Meatball Day and get some great comfort food from these Beavercreek restaurants.

Meatball Day isn't one of the big national holidays, but that doesn't mean you should avoid it! Celebrated on March 9, this holiday cherishes all things subs, spaghetti, or pizza. Our REALTORS® recommend you head out to these local Beavercreek Italian restaurants for a great meal.

  • Marion's Piazza – 1320 N. Fairfield Rd., Beavercreek, OH
Marion's Piazza has been a popular spot to get delicious thin-crust pizza and other Italian favorites for over 50 years as ownership has remained in the same family. The restaurant has earned many honors, including being named the best Dayton-area pizza in over 37 local newspaper and magazine surveys. It's even been named the top independent pizza restaurant in the nation by Pizza Today magazine. So what are you waiting for? You can get your fill of meatballs with the restaurant's meatball sub, which also includes spaghetti sauce, parmesan cheese, and onions, or try the spaghetti with meatballs. If you'd rather have a pizza, order one with your choice of toppings, or go for the Marion's Deluxe with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. If you're feeling a bit more adventurous, order the ham and sauerkraut pizza.

  • Cassano's – 3915 Indian Ripple Rd., Beavercreek, OH 45440
Cassano's began by selling the family's pizza in the back of their small grocery store in 1953 and has since expanded to several area locations. Their signature dough is so in-demand that Cassano's operates a Dough King website that sells its own dough and uses other recipes to fulfill orders. Visit the restaurant to order the meatball sub or spaghetti with meatballs. Or enjoy a personal-sized pizza or several larger sizes to share with a group. The Super Deluxe — loaded with pepperoni, sausage, ham, mushrooms, onions, red and green peppers, banana peppers, and extra cheese — is a customer favorite, and if you're ordering for a party, consider choosing a few 30-inch pies.

  • Jimmy's Italian Kitchen – 3002 Woodman Dr., Kettering, OH 45420
You can enjoy everything from a gourmet pizza to a lunchtime sub to Italian favorites like linguine with clam sauce at Jimmy's Italian Kitchen. Choose a pizza with a traditional or a thicker Sicilian crust. Then add toppings of your choice, such as bacon, ham, meatballs, anchovies, broccoli, pineapple, and more. Several gourmet pizza options are also offered, including a Meat Lover's Pizza covered in meatballs, pepperoni, sausage, ham, and bacon, or a Veggie Lover's Pizza with tomatoes, onions, spinach, green peppers, black olives, and mushrooms.

  • The Flying Pizza – 2640 Colonel Glenn Hwy., Beavercreek/Fairborn, OH 45324
Located across from Wright State University, The Flying Pizza serves up hand-tossed Neapolitan as well as Sicilian square pizza. All ingredients used are fresh, and their dough and sauce are made on the premises. Order pizza by the slice with your choice of cheese, pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom, or try a larger-sized pie with a wider range of toppings. Customer favorites include Pete's Favorite with pepperoni, sliced meatballs, and mushrooms, and the Meat-Za, topped with sliced meatballs, pepperoni, and sausage.
