Barista Day is coming up, so be sure to start your day off right by visiting these local businesses!

March 1 has been designated as Barista Day to help celebrate these coffee artists who help us stay well caffeinated and fueled throughout the day. Our REALTORS® recommend grabbing a coffee at one of these local shops around Beavercreek and thanking your barista while you're there:

  • Coffee Hub – 81 E. Main St., Xenia, OH 45385
Wherever your coffee preferences lie, chances are excellent you'll find what you're looking for on the Coffee Hub menu. Choose from drip coffee, several types of pour-over, Americano, or latte at the cafe after stopping by some Xenia homes for sale. And if you prefer your coffee cold, you can choose a house-made cold brew, iced Americano, or iced latte. Save room for breakfast or a treat like a peanut butter and jelly or Nutella waffle, a Coffee Hub's Best Darn Apple Fritter, or the customer favorite Giant Cinnamon Roll. Hours are 6 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday.

  • EPIC Coffee Shoppe – Castle Hills Shopping Plaza, 22 W. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429
EPIC Coffee Shoppe, located near Kettering homes for sale, is an attractive café that has become an atmospheric destination for coffee lovers. Get your day going with your choice of drinks like the Red Eye (an espresso shot topped with daily brew) or the Royale (espresso over ice cream and raspberry-topped). French pastries are also available, so indulge in one to complete your café experience. Hours are 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

  • Lefty's Eats & Espresso – 2 W. Main St., Fairborn, OH 45324
The name of Lefty's Eats & Espresso, located near Fairborn homes for sale, says it all since the café serves up plenty of delicious coffee drinks as well as an extensive menu of soups, salads, sandwiches, and more. Choose from favorites such as an espresso shot, Americana, latte, or cappuccino and make time for something to eat. If you're going for breakfast, try the Cajun Chicken Scrambled (three scrambled eggs topped with a Cajun-seasoned chicken breast, tomatoes, and a jack/cheddar blend cheese). Or go later in the day to enjoy dishes like crab and shrimp pasta or a Cubano sandwich to go along with your coffee. Hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.

  • Boosalis Baking and Café – Cross Pointe Shopping Center, 175 E. Alex Bell Rd. #280, Centerville, OH 45459
Boosalis Baking and Cafe may be well known for their baked goods, but they also serve freshly brewed gourmet coffee that's the perfect accompaniment to any of their treats. Their food is made from scratch every day with 100% natural ingredients, so order a salad, sandwich, or French-inspired pastry that's made with European-grade butter. Your choices include a variety of scones — including white chocolate cherry and cranberry orange — each made with pure cream and honey and mixed by hand to make its texture tender. Hours for the café, convenient to Centerville homes for sale, are 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Garden and landscaping projects at this time of year may be the last thing on your mind, especially as intermittent storms come and go, but there are things you can start doing now to get your grounds ready for when warmer weather arrives. Beavercreek homes for sale are prime properties for adding the latest landscaping trends, so let's get going right now in your landscape and try out some of these pre-spring 2021 projects.

Get Going on These 2021 Landscaping Projects

  1. Create a raised bed.
If you didn't plant a vegetable garden last year, get set for spring planting with a raised bed. Choose a manufactured or a homemade frame with dimensions of about 4 feet by 6 feet. The frame sides should be about 6 inches deep. If your yard is clear of snow and ice, you can mark off the area for the raised bed with string or spray paint.  Be sure to choose a sunny location. Double dig to a depth of 2 feet, returning soil to the bed but adding compost. You can create rows for seeds or seedlings later. Cover the bed with mulch and wait for the right planting times.
