Remember how much fun you had when you were a child and went picnicking with your family? Maybe you've been too busy in recent years to gather up your spouse and the kids for a picnic under the trees or at a shelter on a nice spring day. If so, our REALTORS® want to remind you about what you've been missing.
The fact is, now that you're settling into the home you bought from Beavercreek homes for sale, you'll be delighted to learn our community has some fabulous picnic spots. And that means you're well positioned to celebrate National Picnic Day on April 23 — which, if you can't get it in gear to get a picnic together, can be just as easily celebrated anytime. Whether you laze the day away on a blanket in the sun, or get more organized at a local shelter, we guarantee a picnic is something you and your loved ones will cherish in their memories of family fun. And, hey, there's nothing wrong with hot dogs and hamburgers or even deviled eggs and cold-cut sandwiches for lunch — but if you're looking to make this a meal to remember, you won't have any trouble finding some mouth-watering recipes online.
Now, since you may be new to Beavercreek, let us help you find some of the choicest venues around for perfect picnicking.
- Dominick Lofino Park. 640 Grange Hall Rd., Beavercreek
If you have a large event in mind, you might want to rent the large picnic shelter at Dominick Lofino Park. It can seat 150, and there are plenty of grills for a cookout. Some of the other features of the 36-acre park: a playground, a lake, pickleball and tennis courts, walking path, and skate park. Restrooms are available nearby.
- E.J. Nutter Park. 865 Factory Rd., Beavercreek
E.J. Nutter Park has three shelters available — one larger and two smaller. The park is situated near Creekside Trail and has many interesting natural features, in the midst of a wetland area. A bike trail and baseball diamonds are nearby.
- Creekside Reserve. 761 Factory Road, Beavercreek
Those who picnic in Creekside Reserve may need to carry supplies in a ways along the nature trail — a portable table and some folding chairs will be helpful, if you can manage it. Be forewarned it can be soggy after it rains, particularly if you get off the paved bike trail and go off on some of the foot trails. This nature trail has been lovingly restored and offers glimpses of wildlife and native vegetation.
- Shoup Park. 1341 Meadow Bridge Drive, Beavercreek
Popular Shoup Park has one picnic shelter. The 4.7-acre park also has a unique slide, a large play structure, and swings.
- Rotary Park. 2260 Dayton Xenia Road, Beavercreek
If you have ballplayers in your group, this is the place to go. Rotary Park, 72 acres, has softball diamonds, t-ball diamonds, and baseball diamonds, as well as playground structures, soccer fields, and volleyball courts. For picnics, there's a large shelter.
- Wartinger Park. 1368 Research Park Drive, Beavercreek
Wartinger Park, 4.3 acres, is home to the Beavercreek Historical Society (BHS) and the Flower Trail Garden Club. Four small log houses were moved to the site from other locations in Beavercreek; there are also a large herb garden and the Marie Wartinger Memorial Garden. You can find a quiet place to spread a blanket under a tree and have some refreshments in this unique historical park.
