Have you and your dog been getting all the exercise you need over the winter? Now that spring is on the wing in our part of the world, it'll soon be the perfect time to resume or even to lengthen those dog walks. If you've been confining your walks to the neighborhood, you can boost adventure time by visiting some new walking and other dog-centered venues. Happily, the home you acquired from Beavercreek homes for sale has plenty of those nearby and even several in the region you can drive to.
So let's get going and celebrate April as Active Dog Month by taking Rover and Fifi out for a major stroll, followed by a spa day. You'll have a happier, healthier, and calmer canine companion if you do.
- Russ Nature Preserve. 2380 Kemp Rd, Beavercreek
One of our favorite nearby happy places is Russ Nature Preserve. Given by Fritz and Dolores Russ in 2008, Russ Nature Preserve offers a natural woodland playscape, but for you and your mutt, there are 4 miles of trails winding through meadows and woods. Let the kids play themselves out in the playscape, then everyone accompanies your eager pooch for a bracing walk.
- Creekside Reserve. 761 Factory Rd, Beavercreek
Follow a 2-mile loop trail that follows the Little Beavercreek River and then circles back. Follow power lines to get back, or hike the paved bike path. Spring walks in Creekside Reserve offer an added bonus of beautiful wildflowers, plus glimpses of wildlife.
- Karohl Park. 2940 Hohl Drive, Beavercreek
If you haven't trained your dog to play disc golf, nearby Karohl Park could be the setting for a new adventure. Have your dog sit and stay, then throw the disc, and give your dog a treat to teach it to stay by your side when the disc flies. That's the deal, you see: the disc golf throwing is for you to bang the disc in the chains. Your dog can walk with you, so it's not a fetching type exercise. Enjoy the pretty trees in Karohl Park as you go.
- Oakwood Dog Park at Creager Field. 210 Shafor Blvd, Dayton
Nearby Dayton also offers several outdoor opportunities to interact with your canine friend. Recently rededicated from land donated by the Creager Family as a ballfield and transformed into a dog park, Oakwood Park has areas for small dogs and large dogs, as well as an agility course.
- Doggie Styles Day Spa. 1275 North Fairfield Road, Beavercreek.
Now, this obviously isn't an exercise venue, but it's a swell place to pamper your canine family members. Among the services Doggie Styles Day Spa offers: hydrosurge recirculating bathing systems to massage and oxygenate the skin while gently removing dirt; clipping (vacuuming with clipping to limit dander); and dematting (if too severe, dog will be shaved). Spa attendants are trained to give dogs gentle care.
-
Pet Salon, Spa and Daycare. 3821 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek.
We"re lucky to have the Pet Salon, Spa and Daycare here in Beavercreek. Not only can you get your pet spiffed up and beautified, but it's also a great place to leave your canine when you have to go out of town. There's also the Laund-Ur-Mutt, a self-serve pet wash featuring waist-high, full-sized bathtubs for pets, complete with restraints. You can also get your pet a treatment to whiten their teeth.
Beavercreek is a fabulous place for dog owners, both in terms of properties available that will suit your canines and you, but also because of all the convenient facilities for your dogs. Questions? Our REALTORS® can help. Contact Wright-Patt Realty today.
