Veganuary is a celebration of all things healthy. Here are the Beavercreek restaurants where you can try some vegan dishes.

Opting for a vegan lifestyle can be a challenge. Although veganism is growing worldwide, it can still be difficult to find vegan fare in restaurants. That means avoiding foods cooked in meat-based broths, or foods served with dairy products or even honey.

Vegans who are looking to buy in the Beavercreek homes for sale or Centerville homes for sale areas can rejoice that very close by are some restaurants that offer vegan choices. As always, remember that you may have to ask proprietors if animal products such as lard, dairy, or others are included in the preparation of the food.

As you visit these restaurants, keep in mind that January is Veganuary month, a month-long celebration of the vegan lifestyle. Vegans worldwide are putting out the word in January that the vegan way helps reduce the suffering of animals and helps the planet regain its health by taking valuable land out of meat and dairy production.

  1. Pasha Grill. 72 Plum St, Beavercreek, OH.
Middle Eastern restaurants are often one of the best venues for dining on vegan fare. While they may serve meat, there are plenty of other dishes, often cooked in olive oil, to enjoy. For instance, a popular appetizer is baba ganoush, which is smoked eggplant puree flavored with tahini, olive oil, and garlic. (Always ask if the baba ganoush is made with sour cream.) Other vegan favorites at the Pasha Grill are stuffed grape leaves, pinto bean salad, tabuli, and eggplant with sauce.

  2. Little Saigon. 1718 Woodman Dr, Dayton, OH.
Asian food can offer vegan choices, but you will have to ask if items on the menu that appear to be vegan are cooked in chicken or beef stock. For instance, Hot and Sour Soup may be made with stock derived from meat but could be vegetable stock; other ingredients include vegetables, mushrooms, and tofu. You can request they leave out the whisked eggs. Other Asian dishes to try are those with noodles and rice, vegetables, and tofu. Salads are another popular vegan option. Visit Little Saigon in Dayton, 4 miles from Beavercreek or 10 miles from Centerville.

  3. Corelife Eatery. 5201 Cornerstone North Boulevard. Centerville, OH.
Corelife Eatery serves foods that are at their peak; the restaurants also concentrate on organic and GMO-free ingredients. Try the Sriracha Ginger Tofu and Quinoa, or the Sweet Potato Buddha Bowl with spinach, quinoa, black beans, chickpeas, red salsa, cotija, and tortilla strips. (Ask them to hold the crema.) Or, order a steaming bowl of vegetable broth or tomato basil soup. You can also build your own bowl with vegan ingredients.

  4. Coffee Hub. 3375 Dayton Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, OH.
If you're in the mood for a vegan dessert, look no further than the Coffee Hub. Here's a sampling: Oatmeal Cream Pie Cookie, Shortbread Cookie, Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar, Chocolate Chip Brownie, Peanut Butter Brownie, Donut, Cinnamon Roll, Coffee Cake, Cupcake, Scone, Biscotti, Pumpkin Roll, Crostada, and Cake Pop.

  5. Wat Da Pho. 3464 Pentagon Blvd. D, Beavercreek, OH.
Wat Da Pho has a page of "anti-meat" dishes on the menu: Tofu Rolls; Tofu Temple / Dau Hu Xao Chua Ngot (tofu and vegetables in sweet and sour sauce), Green House / Rau Cai Xao Xa Ot (cabbage, bell pepper, broccoli, carrots, onion in spicy lemongrass), and Vegan Noodle Soup (tofu, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, and mushroom).
