Looking for a change of pace in 2022? Shake up your design and decor with the colors of the year.

Every year, color experts and paint companies announce their top picks for the color of the year. These colors are based on trends from fashion, pop culture, technology, and design. Why should you be interested in colors of the year? These colors aren't just the same old tired shades of yesteryear. Say you want a white: colors of the year whites will astonish with nuances of white that you never dreamed possible. Same with greens, blues, browns, and more.

Get ready to paint in the house you moved into from Beavercreek homes for sale, once you check out the fabulous colors below.

  1. Very Peri
The Pantone company, which created the Pantone Matching System for reproducing consistent colors, has released its pick for the coming year: Very Peri. Rather than picking from its current library, Pantone developed a new color, a vibrant shade of periwinkle. It has been described as blending soothing blues with exciting red shades. The company is promoting the color as "warm and joyful" and says it was designed to symbolize the world's transition out of the worst conditions of the pandemic.

Very Peri pairs wells with lush green tones, mauve, and terra cotta in bedrooms or living rooms. Juxtapose it with pink or bright yellow for kids' rooms. You can also bring it into your color scheme through furniture, accent pieces, or painted accents.

  2. Laurel Leaf
The dusty green of Laurel Leaf, designated color of the year from Better Homes & Gardens, calls to mind the soothing green of eucalyptus leaves. The trend to bring nature into our homes started some years ago, but it hasn't waned, and Laurel Leaf reflects that ongoing desire to surround ourselves with the natural world.

The warm undertones of Laurel Leaf (the first-ever paint color of the year from BH&G) go well with light wood hues, beiges, and creamy whites. Try it in a bedroom to give a calming atmosphere, or in the dining room, as a quiet backdrop of restrained color that's easy on the senses.

  3. Art and Craft
Dunn-Edward's' color of the year, Art and Craft, is a "soft, sophisticated brown" redolent of walnut wood, and providing a peaceful effect. Get down to earth with Art and Craft in your home and feel calmer and more stable. As Dunn-Edwards explains, this color expresses a current interior design trend that evokes back-to-nature tones for interiors.

Described as "moody and complex," Art and Craft gives off a bohemian aesthetic of the '70s but also puts us in mind of the simpler, sustainable ethos of the cottagecore trend. Use it in dining rooms, bedrooms, and the living room. Make it come alive when set off with jewel tones such as sapphire, ruby, and emerald.

  4. October Mist
Benjamin Moore's October Mist is another green, but this one is soft, silky, and botanical — think the pale green of flower stems. It's the foundation for BM's 2022 color trends palette, with 14 nature-inspired tones, including tinted off-whites, earth tones, and "refreshed" primary colors.

Work with a monochromatic palette by warming up gentle October Mist with the richer, darker Gloucester Sage. Reach for a crisper look by offsetting October Mist with icy blue-green Quiet Moments or inky blue-black Mysterious.

  5. Evergreen Fog
Sherwin-Williams has chosen a mid-tone gray-green as its 2022 color of the year, a shift away from jewel tones and neutrals that have been front and center in color trends. Evergreen Fog gives a quiet, organic look to entryways, bedrooms, and bathrooms.
