Even if you don't have a lot of room, you can find ways to store things effectively. Here's how.

Can we ever have enough storage space? Most of us somehow make do, but if you're thinking of listing your home with Beavercreek homes for sale you may want to show potential buyers that you've come up with some solutions for a shortage of storage space that will satisfy their concerns.

If there were a storage space genie, you'd likely be wishing for a basement, attic, huge walk-in closets, and deep kitchen cabinets with space that goes into another dimension. It's terrific if you've got the means to make some of these changes, particularly if you plan to stay in your home for a while. Otherwise, maybe you could use some storage advice.

Fortunately, our REALTORS® have come up with some clever fixes for maximizing storage without going through a major renovation.

Voila! Creating New Storage Space

  1. Install floating shelves.
You can create new storage space by putting up floating shelves in narrow wall spaces in the bathroom, kitchen, or any other room. Remember to find wall studs to anchor the shelves for more support before you start your installation.

  2. Got too many plants? Get them off the floor.
Save space by getting plants off the floor. Small plants can be mounted on the wall or on shelves, or hung from the ceiling.

  3. Use your pantry or laundry doors to hang things.
Replace your pantry or laundry doors with louvered doors, or install hooks to hang things or shelves on the insides of doors for storage.

  4. Reclaim space under kitchen cabinets.
All that lovely space underneath your kitchen cabinets can be put to use. Install cup hangers or a rack for tucking away wine glasses and cups.

  5. Install cabinets over doors.
Hardly anyone thinks of this space in terms of real estate, but why not? It's out of the way and, done right, can look attractive. Install a cabinet with glass doors over the threshold, and put away the dishes you use for company, nice wine glasses, or anything else you don't use all that frequently.

  6. Create storage under seating.
Look into seating that has built-in drawers. You'll be pleased to have things close at hand, while out of the way with this storage solution. Storage in benches is another handy fix, as are storage ottomans.

  7. Store items from the ceiling.
Hang your pots and pans from the ceiling on chandelier racks or use strong hooks. This will free up lots of space in kitchen drawers, cabinets, and on countertops, so you can have a tidier kitchen.

  8. Store stuff above cabinets.
Acquire some attractive storage bins and put away the appliances, kitchen linens, cookbooks, and other items you don't use every day.

  9. Make use of pegboards.
They're not just for the tools in the garage. Pegboards are a useful way to store your office items, craft supplies, or kitchen utensils. Check out black or white stainless steel pegboards or slatwall panels, or customize traditional pegboard.

  10. Hang kitchen utensils.
Hang a rod between cabinets or over the sink and install S-shaped hooks to hang kitchen utensils, scrub brushes, mugs, teacups, and dish towels.

  11. Got a window in your bathroom? Use it for storage.
Since when were a medicine cabinet and the space under the sink ever adequate for storing all the things you need in the bathroom? Make use of your bathroom window for storage space by installing a shelf in it. It's a great place for a tin of bandages, cosmetics, or a cup with nail scissors, tweezers, a file, or just anything extra.
