Oakwood Business Spotlight: The Little City Cooking School
If you've been busy visiting the many gorgeous Oakwood homes for sale, you might have found yourself eating out more often than you would like. While there are plenty of great dining options in the Oakwood area, there's nothing quite like a home-cooked meal.
Whether you're a bonafide foodie or kitchen-challenged, learning new cooking skills is a fun and rewarding way to spend your time. That's why our REALTORS® love taking classes at The Little City Cooking School.
Located in a 1926 home in Oakwood, this intimate cooking school is the perfect way to spend a date night or girl's night out. Here's what you can expect during your culinary adventure.
A Unique and Exciting Cooking Experience
Far more than a simple cooking demo, participants in Little City's cooking classes get hands-on experience preparing their own meals. Here you'll be assigned to a station complete with an apron, cutting board, cooktop, pre-measured ingredients, and all the tools you'll need. You're welcome to bring your own wine to enjoy while you're cooking and eating your meal.
With only six to eight people per class, you're sure to get the individual attention you need to master your new cooking skills. Questions are encouraged throughout the classes, which typically last around two hours. After the class is done, you're welcome to spend an hour or two relaxing in the comfortable lounge area.
Classes to Suit Every Need
Since owner and head chef Jo Dyck opened The Little City Cooking School in 2014, she's continued to expand her class offerings. There's now something for everyone. True foodies will love the 16-week Master Chef classes. Children aged 7 to 11 can enjoy the Jr. Chef classes and camps, while those aged 12 and up can sign up for the Junior version of the Master Chef series.
New classes are always added to the schedule, so you'll want to check out the online class listing for the most up-to-date information. Many are set up as a "date night" with a single price that includes two people.
Upcoming classes include filet mignon and shrimp, pasta-making from scratch, gnocchi alla ciociaria, adult knife skills, and sushi making. Reservations are required, and spots fill up quickly. It's not uncommon to wait several months for an open class, proving just how popular this unique experience has become.
