Festival Theme: Our Youth…America's Future
Americana Festival began in 1972 as a promotional sidewalk event for downtown merchants. It's grown tremendously since then. Over 85,000 people are estimated to attend the two-day 2018 festival. July 3 Activities
- Flag Ceremony & Americana Concert 7:30 pm
The weekend of exciting activities will begin with a Flag Ceremony on Friday at 7:00 pm in Stubbs Park. Afterward, the Centerville Community Band and Chorus will present a Concert.
- Miami Valley Hospital South Fireworks Show 8:30 pm
The Fireworks Show at Centerville High School Stadium will jumpstart your excitement. Food vendors will sell at the stadium entrance. Live entertainment begins at 8:30 pm with fireworks at 10:00 pm. Reserve seats on the stadium track by emailing Centerville High PTO at chelkspto@gmail.com.
July 4th Activities
- Washington Township Hall
As the official central activity hub, Town Hall will present free balloons, patriotic crafts and more outdoor activities for children. The family entertainment inside will feature juggling, story-telling, and magic by Goofball Extraordinaire and entertainment by Town Hall Theatre performing youth.
- 5K Run 7:30 am
The Noon Optimist Club will host the annual Americana 5K walk/run race. The race begins at the Centerville High School Stadium at 7:30 am. Runners/walkers may register online at Speedy Feet or print and return the form by mail. Race participants must check in by 7:00 am. Registration fee: $20.
- Street Fair 9:30 am
The street fair is an exciting part of July 4th schedule. Three hundred vendor booths will be open beginning at 9:30 am. Look for booths along Main St., Iron Gate Drive, in Benham's Grove, and at other locations listed on the festival map.
- Arts& Crafts: Talk to the artists and artisans. Purchase handmade jewelry, clothing, stained glass, and more.
- Food: Tame your appetite with Chinese, Cajun, Greek, BBQ, and many other food favorites. Snacks or sweets? Try kettle corn, Fudge, and more.
- Parade 10:00 am
The annual parade begins on East Franklin St. The parade will showcase 120 youth groups, bands, and non-profits walking, marching and riding floats.
- Entertainment 11:00 am
Magicians, musicians, stilt-walkers, balloon-sculpting clowns, and others will stroll the festival and perform on multiple stages. Bands will play big band, rock, country, and jazz music. Keep kids happy with fun games and activities.
- Auto Show 11:00 am
If you're a car lover, you'll want to hang out on North Main St. near Benham's Grove. The Americana Car Show will present Antique, Classic, and Custom cars and trucks. The best of the best will win category awards. One winner will ride away with a Best of Show award.
