Fairborn Ohio Sweet Corn Festival
By the time August rolls around, the sweet corn is just about ready to pick in Ohio. So if you like corn on the cob, it's a great time to be alive. There are plenty of ways to enjoy Ohio's favorite crop, but our real estate agents have a clear favorite – the Fairborn Sweet Corn Festival in Fairborn, Ohio.
The Fairborn Sweet Corn Festival is an annual tradition, now in its 36th year. Timed to coincide with the Faiborn, Ohio area's ample sweet corn harvest, this event is a perfect opportunity to taste some of the best sweet corn in the country, but it's also much, much more. The festival is a fun, family-friendly event that offers a wide range of crafts, games, activities and, of course, food. Here's a sampling of what you can expect this year:
- Arts and crafts: One of the highlights of this annual festival is its craft show, which brings artists and craft vendors from all over the region with a stunning variety of handmade goods. You'll find approximately 180 vendors offering everything from candles, wood items and jewelry to watercolor and oil paintings.
- Fun and games: There is so much to do at the Fairborn Sweet Corn Festival! The festival begins with a ribbon cutting ceremony by this year's king and queen, and there will be pony rides, train rides and a bounce house for the kids. Free live entertainment will also be provided.
- Food and drink: There's not much chance of going home hungry. A variety of food and drink will be available (alcohol will not be served) including pork chop sandwiches, fresh cut watermelon, and of course, lots and lots of fresh steamed sweet corn. And for the first time ever, this year's event will include a sweet corn eating contest. If you think you've got what it takes to win, registration is still open!
This two-day event takes place on Saturday, August 19th from 11 AM to 7 PM, and Sunday, August 20th from 11 AM to 6 PM. Don't forget to bring your appetite!
The Fairborn Sweet Corn Festival takes place at Community Park, on E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road in Fairborn, Ohio. The park is a gorgeous green, open space surrounded by some of the most beautiful Fairborn homes and businesses. It's also less than 20 minutes from downtown Dayton, and admission is free!
